The Institute Incubation and Innovation Council (I3C), IIT Jammu, successfully conducted a five-day technical training programme on “New Labour Codes and HR Management of Power Utilities” for employees of Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL). The programme was delivered in two batches, with Batch-1 held from 10 to 14 August 2026 and Batch-2 from 17 to 21 August 2026, with 29 participants in each batch.
Designed to strengthen professional understanding of the evolving labour regulatory framework and contemporary human resource practices in the power utility sector, the training brought together industry professionals, academic experts, and sector specialists for focused learning and knowledge exchange. The programme addressed key aspects of the New Labour Codes, statutory and organisational compliance, HR processes, employee management, and emerging workplace requirements, with emphasis on their practical relevance to the power sector.
The first batch was inaugurated in the presence of Prof. M.T. Arvind, Chief Innovation Officer, IIT Jammu and Director, I3C – IIT Jammu, along with distinguished faculty members and experts from IIT Jammu, including Prof. Anup Shukla, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Dean of Student Affairs, IIT Jammu; Prof. Yogesh, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Head, Interdisciplinary Programme and PIC, IBD, I3C, IIT Jammu; Prof. Ankit Dubey, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Jammu; Dr. Lakhwinder, COO, I3C – IIT Jammu; and Er. Rajinder Gupta, Superintending Electrical Engineer (Retired), Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited.
Batch-2 was inaugurated by Prof. Yogesh M. Nimdeo, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Head, Interdisciplinary Programme, and PIC, IBD, I3C, IIT Jammu, marking the commencement of another focused learning engagement for MSETCL professionals.

Across both batches, the training featured expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and sector-oriented learning activities. Participants gained practical perspectives on the changing regulatory landscape, HR management practices, compliance requirements, and workplace challenges within power utilities. The sessions also encouraged participants to engage with contemporary HR issues and explore their implications in the context of a rapidly evolving power sector.
Through such training initiatives, I3C – IIT Jammu continues to support organisations in strengthening capabilities, enabling knowledge exchange, and preparing professionals to respond effectively to emerging sectoral and regulatory requirements.
