I3C – IIT Jammu participated in the Start-up Outreach Programme organised by the Division of Agricultural Economics and Agri-business Management, SKUAST-Jammu, under the JKCIP Project on 21 August 2026 at the Baba Jitto Auditorium, SKUAST-Jammu, Main Campus, Chatha.
The programme was graced by Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, as the Chief Guest and brought together around 1000 college students from across the Region. The outreach programme provided students with an opportunity to learn more about entrepreneurship, startups, and the possibilities of turning ideas into solutions.
Representing I3C – IIT Jammu, Prof. Nalin Kumar Sharma, PIC, I3C – IIT Jammu, interacted with the students through a session on Lean Startup thinking. Rather than approaching a startup with a fully formed product from the outset, the session introduced students to the importance of understanding the problem first, speaking to potential users, testing assumptions, and learning from feedback before investing heavily in a solution.
Prof. Sharma also shared an overview of the work of I3C – IIT Jammu and its role in supporting innovators and startups through incubation, mentorship, ecosystem connections, and opportunities to take promising ideas closer to the market. The interaction gave students a practical view of what the early stages of a startup can look like and the importance of learning and adapting along the way.
The programme brought together students, academic stakeholders, and the wider startup ecosystem, creating an opportunity to encourage young minds across Jammu & Kashmir to explore entrepreneurship and consider how their ideas can address real-world challenges.
